What makes meal planning like managing a project?
Wednesday.
Meal planning day in our household.
What's that you say? You don't plan your meals for the week ahead?
Well, it may surprise you to hear that I LIKE PLANNING. And so, I do…
(Cue ways to link meal planning and project management…)
1. Scoping & goal setting
🥑 Plan meals for the week --> define your scope and timelines
2. Resource allocation
🥗 Allocate time for meal prep, buy ingredients, know what you want to spend --> allocate teams, assign tasks, track budget, manage dependencies
3. Execution & monitoring
🥓 Cook the meals! Adapt for the – ahem - unexpected --> execute your project plan, monitor progress, address issues and adjust as needed
4. Learning & iteration
🍲 Swap in ingredients, try a new recipe --> identify areas for improvement, implement lessons learnt
5. Time management
👩🍳 No description needed here…if dinner is late, your kids will be hangry!!
Everyone knows that deciding what you and your family are eating every day is a nightmare…so is working out each next step on your project on the fly.
So, whether this has inspired you to create a Gantt for your ongoing project, or simply scrawl down some ideas of next week's dinner, I'll be happy!
(Just don't ask me what we're having as I haven't decided yet...but I'd be up for some inspiration!)
